Podium / Poster Instructions
Please note that we are no longer accepting abstracts or papers.
Podium Presentations
On the day of your presentation, you (or your designated presenter) must attend the Speakers’ Breakfast at 7:00 a.m. in the designated room posted in the program. All presentations must be loaded onto the session laptop during the Speakers’ Breakfast which lasts from 7:00 to 7:50 a.m.. Please bring your presentation on a USB flash drive (memory stick); find the laptop dedicated to the room where you will present; and work with the student volunteer to load it onto the laptop. (Presenters are not allowed to use their own laptops.) Presentations must be in Power Point (.ppt or .pptx) format only and capable of running on a laptop using MS Office 2013. Note that the 16:9 aspect ratio is preferred, so if you create your Power Point presentation in a version in 2010 or before, be aware that your presentation size will be altered.
At the breakfast, you will meet your session chair(s). Please bring along 2 or 3 written sentences about yourself so that the session chair can prepare an introduction.
ARMA can help you practice your presentation on Sunday (or any time prior to your podium time). Simply stop by Registration and inquire. We will allow you access to the “Speaker Ready Room” which is equipped with a laptop should you need one.
Because this symposium received such a large number of quality papers, we have had to limit the time available for each oral presentation. You will have 12 minutes to present your material, plus 2 minutes for questions and 1 minute for setup. Please do NOT try to present your entire paper! In 12 minutes, your goal should be to entice the audience to read your paper. Show them just the highlights, and avoid going into detail. A good guideline is one slide for every minute or 12 slides total. Use large readable fonts, and limit the amount of information on each slide. Rehearse, rehearse, and rehearse again, to be sure you can finish your presentation in the allotted time.
Poster Presentations
Authors presenting their paper in poster form will do so on their designated day. Presentations will occur from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. If possible, bring your poster to the designated poster display board at your earliest convenience. We will provide updates on the availability of the poster display boards. Check back to this page for that.
Poster setup times will be published in the schedule. All posters will be on display during the hours of the symposium until takedown on Wednesday, 20 June at 4:30 pm.
All authors with posters are requested to make a brief oral presentation of their work during their poster session. A committee of two to three members will be visiting the posters and they will be expecting to hear a summary of the work for about three minutes. So it is important that you will be next to your poster during your assigned poster session. The best poster will be honored at the award banquet.
Your poster must fit into an area no larger than 4 feet high by 4 feet wide (48 inches by 48 inches or 122 cm by 122 cm). Please use the Poster Template below. Electricity is not available at the poster site.
